I wake up slowly. I’m warm and safe. There’s a strong arm around my middle and a solid body pressed against my back. A smile forms across my lips.

I carefully place my hand on top of Gadreel’s and run my fingers over the back of his hand before lacing my fingers between his. My body feels as near to goo as a changeling can be without actually melting away. Last night was amazing and I’m not just talking about the sex, because yes, that had been mind blowing. But just spending time with Gadreel, getting to know him more, seeing behind the wall he puts up around him, that had been amazing.

The words he’d confessed continue to swirl around inside my head, repeating themselves over and over. Gadreel likes me. He has actual feelings for me.

I know I have feelings for him too. How could I not? He’s incredibly attractive with his curly hair, pretty green eyes, toned body, and gentle smile. He’s funny in his own way, especially once his shyness starts to fade and he feels comfortable around someone. The shyness isn’t a drawback either, if anything I like that he’s shy, because it means I have to work at getting him to open up. And don’t even get me started on his blush! I could set aside hours and hours dedicated to just doing and saying things to bring that pretty pink blush on his cheeks.

But am I ready to show him my true face? Am I ready to let him in?

I let out a long breath, trying my best not to think too much about all of this. Things are good right now. I should enjoy them instead of thinking too hard and souring things before they’ve even had a chance to properly get started.

Gadreel moves behind me and a moment later, I feel a tentative set of lips press against my shoulder. His arm tightens around my middle and in response, I squeeze his hand. Carefully, I flip around so we’re face to face.

“Good morning,” Gadreel whispers, his voice gravelly from just waking up. It’s sexy.

“Morning,” I whisper back. I can’t help but grin as Gadreel’s eyes blink slowly as he wakes up. He’s so soft and adorable.

This feels so domestic. Part of me wants to back away from it, like a hand reacting to a spark, wanting to get out of reach before accidentally getting burned. The bigger part of me revels in it. There’s something special about sharing a moment like this with someone. There’s trust. It feels incredibly beautiful with just how ordinary it is.

I bring Gadreel’s hand to my mouth, kissing his knuckles. The smile I get from him threatens to leave me breathless. His face is so open, so soft. How the fuck do I have it so bad for this man already? We’ve jerked each other off one time and now I’m falling for him? Really?

I’d groan if I wasn’t nose to nose with Gadreel. Instead, I lean forward and kiss his lips.
